Treatment approach

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) may assist individuals who struggle with mood disorders, anxiety, or feelings of shame & self-criticism. often stemming from early experiences of abuse or neglect. Through exercises like role-playing, visualization, meditation, & activities that promote gratitude for everyday life, CFT teaches clients about the mind-body connection & guides them in practicing awareness of their thoughts & bodily sensations. This helps clients cultivate self-compassion & compassion for others, which can help regulate their emotions & foster a sense of safety, self-acceptance, & comfort.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a method of therapy that works to engage the motivation of clients to change their behavior. Clients are encouraged to explore & confront their ambivalence. Therapists attempt to influence their clients to consider making changes, rather than non-directively explore themselves. Motivational Interviewing is frequently used in cases of problem drinking or mild addictions.

  • Person-centered therapy uses a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in discussions so that, in the process, they will discover their own solutions. The therapist acts as a compassionate facilitator, listening without judgement & acknowledging the client’s experience without moving the conversation in another direction. The therapist is there to encourage & support the client & to guide the therapeutic process without interrupting or interfering with the client’s process of self-discovery.

  • Psychological testing & evaluation involve a series of tests which are used to identify the causes of mental health symptoms & disorders. It is employed when the underlying problem is unclear, despite apparent symptoms like academic or social difficulties in children or relationship struggles in adults. The evaluation includes aptitude tests, personality assessments, & cognitive screenings. The process typically takes several hours, involving standardized written tests, questionnaires, & interviews with a clinician. The results are used to formulate an overall evaluation, determine a diagnosis, & create a personalized treatment plan.

  • Strength-based therapy is a type of positive psychotherapy & counseling that focuses more on your internal strengths & resourcefulness, & less on weaknesses, failures, & shortcomings. This focus sets up a positive mindset that helps you build on your best qualities, find your strengths, improve resilience & change worldview to one that is more positive. A positive attitude, in turn, can help your expectations of yourself & others become more reasonable.

  • Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) helps people who may be experiencing post-traumatic event to return to a healthy state.
